Migrant women as learners: Individual pathways and prospects in Tunisia

In the present report, we will be analysing the skills and migration profile of migrant women, with a particular focus on Tunisian seasonal migrants and potential migrants. Our intention is to investigate the extent of migrant women's skills and migration patterns, while giving an overview of the existing policy frameworks and initiatives that intersect with migrant women. The report is structured as follows: the opening section provides an overview of the migration context, skills and profiles of migrant women, particularly seasonal migrants and potential migrants. Next, an overview of the relevant findings concerning Tunisian women's skills and migratory trajectories is carried out. This is followed by a presentation of the findings emerging from 17 interviews, covering topics such as skills acquisition, impact on migration decisions, challenges related to skills utilisation, required adjustments and so on. The final section of the report proposes a set of recommendations derived from the insights gained through these interviews, highlighting strategies for acquiring skills, overcoming the obstacles faced by different categories of migrant women and enhancing human capital development.
