Technical workshop "Feasibility study on language training courses"
The Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education (MoETE) seeks to develop the skills of technical education graduates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the local, regional and international labour markets and thus increase their employment opportunities. Key skills identified, include knowledge of foreign languages, particularly English, German and Italian, through increasing and improving the proficiency of students, and enhance capacities of teachers for an effective foreign language skills offer. The Ministry of Education and Technical Education sets, in its Technical Education Strategy (TE 2.0) an ambitious objective to use the latest technology in learning languages to yearly equip at least 10% of the VET students with the ability to communicate in English, German or Italian.
To explore the feasibility of such an initiative and investigate the viability of establishing and innovative model for language training, the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, in cooperation with the EU Delegation in Egypt, has requested the European Training Foundation (ETF) to run a study leading to possible scenarios and options for innovative model/s for English, German and Italian language training for VET students.
The workshop aims at discussing the results of the feasibility study and related recommendations and options for implementation.
This technical workshop will include presentations and facilitated discussions to explore existing and potential models of innovative online and hybrid language courses. During the workshop, facilitated by the ETF, the research team will collect feedback on the options proposed, discuss pros and cons and define possible next steps, including integrating possible roll out in the EU4YES implementation.
The event is addressed to staff in the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, concerned Applied Technical schools and other technical schools, upon suggestion of the Ministry, implementing partners of the EU4YES action, the European Union Delegation, the ETF, and the experts who contributed to the feasibility study.
